UK's CYNIC To Release 'Suburban Crisis' This Month
June 20, 2008Reactivated NWOBHM (New Wave of British Heavy Metal) outfit CYNIC not to be confused with the reunited American progressive metallers CYNIC, whose 1993 album "Focus" is regarded as a landmark release in the field of technical/progressive metal will release its long-awaited new album, "Suburban Crisis", on June 30. The CD comes in a full-color, four-page digipak with a full-color, 16-page booklet, and Sony's unique retro-vinyl style CD discs. There will be a limited-edition (500 quantity) 12-inch vinyl version especially for fans of NWOBHM, which will have been mastered for vinyl at London's Abbey Road Studio (release date to be confirmed).
"Suburban Crisis" was recorded at Rockfield recording studio (where RUSH recorded "Hemispheres" and "A Farewell to Kings" albums; and one of the legendary UK residential studios) in Monmouth in October 2006, with vocals at Yellow Shark Studios in February 2007, and mix and mastering at the Stone House Studio from March to July 2007. The engineer was Matt Butler former George Martin AIR Montserrat studio engineer, credited on RUSH "Hold Your Fire" and "Power Windows" albums, who has also worked with Paul McCartney, DIRE STRAITS, Gary Moore, BLACK SABBATH, Phil Collins, PINK FLOYD, to name a few.
